Orchard Tour & Craft Chocolate Tasting Package

Our Orchard Tour is an engaging, collegiate-level seminar on everything cacao. Honoli'i Orchards exists on the cutting edge of international cacao research, and our team of industry professionals is excited to guide you through the details of our dynamic agricultural operations. Broadly, we will explore the history of cacao cultivation, how we grow and harvest cacao on our farm, and the magic of fermentation –however, our goal for each tour is to craft a curated experience for learners of all ages. This isn't a cookie-cutter tour, but one that adapts to your questions and responds to your curiosity.
This package also includes our full Craft Chocolate Tasting, so our guests can fully experience the "bean to bar" process. Please see below for a detailed description of this offering.

Is your chocolate vegan?
At the time of writing, 10 of our 14 chocolate bars are vegan.Is your chocolate gluten-free?
Yes, all of our chocolate is gluten-free.Are kids allowed and do you have a rate for children?
Children are allowed but there is no separate child rate; if they occupy a seat in the tasting room they must be paid for. We generally recommend children over age 7 for the 3.5-hour experience, but will consider exceptions. If a child disrupts the group, their chaperone may be asked to entertain them away from the rest of the group until they have settled.How many chocolate bars do we try?
Currently the tasting menu includes 14 different chocolate bars and generally between 10 and 14 bars are sampled, with unlimited samples of each available.Is the farm tour suitable for those in a wheelchair or using mobility devices?
The farm tour includes about 200 yards of walking over uneven and hilly terrain. Mobility devices that can handle grassy, hilly terrain are acceptable. Guests who cannot participate in the farm walk can relax in the tasting room; contact the operator in advance so accommodations can be prepared.
Craft Chocolate Tasting
Duration: Approximately 1.5 hours
Our Craft Chocolate Tasting is a curated experience for our guests who are truly here for the chocolate. Our professional guides will lead you through an unlimited sampling of over ten award-winning, single-origin chocolate bars from different cacao farms across Hawai'i, with details about each farm and their unique post-harvest practices. The tasting takes place in our beautiful open-air tasting room in the lush Honoli'i valley, with a view of the cacao orchards that extends down to the ocean on clear days.
Eat chocolate to your heart's content as we explore the wide variety of flavors that Hawaiian chocolate has to offer –from fudgy and earthy, to fruity and floral, there’s something for every palate. Through this tasting, you will gain a deeper understanding of your own chocolate flavor preferences to help you better navigate the global craft chocolate movement. We also have chocolate bars available for purchase at the end of the tasting if you would like to share your favorites with family and friends.
Guests who select the standalone Craft Chocolate Tasting will also enjoy an abbreviated discussion on the history of Honoli'i Orchards and the cutting-edge research that we conduct, along with information about basic cacao agronomics and the history of chocolate. We will sample the fresh fruit of two different cacao varieties and learn how the fruit is pollinated and how the pod develops. This compact tour occurs entirely in our tasting room and is an excellent fit for guests with a busy schedule who still want to squeeze in an unforgettable chocolate tasting experience.
